    Beverley Knight, the multi-award winning recording artist and star of The Bodyguard musical, will star in MEMPHIS THE MUSICAL on the London stage later this year.

    The Tony Award winning Best Musical will begin previews at the West End’s Shaftesbury Theatre from 9 October 2014.

    Inspired by actual events, MEMPHIS THE MUSICAL is set in the underground dance clubs of 1950s Memphis, Tennessee, about a radio DJ who wants to change the world and a club singer who is ready for her big break.

    The musical won four 2010 Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Book by Joe Dipietro (I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change), and Best Original Score with music by founding Bon Jovi member David Bryan, as well as four 2010 Drama Desk and four 2010 Outer Critics Circle awards.

    The Queen of British Soul, Beverley Knight will star as 'Felicia'. Knight has sold over a million albums in the UK, boasting several top 10's and four gold certified and a platinum album, performing with the likes of Prince, Stevie Wonder and Take That, and receiving an MBE in 2007 for her services to music and charity. She joined the cast of The Bodyguard as superstar Rachel Marron on 9 September 2013 and is currently scheduled to appear until 31 May 2014.

    MEMPHIS THE MUSICAL will follow From Here To Eternity and The Pajama Game at the Shaftesbury Theatre.
