What is Vanya about?

Far away in the Russian countryside, a young woman and her uncle spend their days tending to what remains of their crumbling estate, with only their own company and the occasional visit from local doctor and the girl’s father. When the father and his younger wife visit and declare their intentions to sell the estate to improve their own standing in the city, relationships are tested and lives are upturned as the family face the devastating consequences of their decisions.
