Experience the 24 hour theatrical experience THE SECOND WOMAN at The Young Vic.

Inspired by John Cassavetes’ film Opening NightTHE SECOND WOMAN is a unique, theatrical experience starring Ruth Wilson in the role of Virginia.

As the audience are invited to choose how long they stay within the 24 hour performance, the scene between Virginia and her husband Marty, replays over and over again. Each time, Marty is portrayed by different cast members, none of whom have met or rehearsed with Ruth Wilson.

Multiple cameras capture and share live close-ups, whilst the stage provides the audience with a wide-angle view of the action.

What is The Second Woman about?

Starring Ruth Wilson, The Second Woman is a unique 24 hour cinematic theatre performance where the same scene plays over and over again. 100 different men, non-binary and queer people star opposite Wilson in the scene between a man and a woman whose relationship has lost its spark.
