The predominantly autobiographical play, THE NORMAL HEART by Larry Cramer was first shown at The Public Theater, Off-Broadway in 1985. After the success of the production, the play was staged, receiving critical acclaim, in both Los Angeles and in London.

In 2004, it was revived Off-Broadway before finally making its Broadway debut in 2011. Continuing the plays success, a film of the same name was released in 2014, starring Mark Ruffalo and Julia Roberts.

THE NORMAL HEART is an emotional drama depicting the rise of the HIV-AIDS crisis in New York City in the early 1980’s. The storyline follows Ned Weeks, an openly gay activist and writer who strives to raise awareness of this disease within the gay community. It is about one man’s lonely and emotional fight to awaken the world to the issues surrounding the HIV-AIDS crisis. Ned feels the direct impact of the personal toll of AIDS when his lover sadly passes away – making it even more important for Ned to try to save the world from itself.
