Originally a 1934 detective fiction novel by Agatha Christie, MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS is a murder mystery in which Hercule Poirot boards the magnificent Orient Express in order to return from Istanbul to London on urgent business.

MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS was adapted for stage by American playwright Ken Ludwig. The production premiered at the McCarter Theatre in Princeton, New Jersey in 2017 and was directed by Emily Mann, and starred Allan Corduner in the role of Hercule Poirot.

In 2017, Christie’s novel was brought to life once more, but this time through a film that was directed, co-produced by, and starring Kenneth Branagh as Hercule Poirot, along with an ensemble supporting cast including Penélope Cruz, Judi Dench, Johnny Depp and Josh Gad.

What is Murder On The Orient Express about?

Whilst travelling to London on the Orient Express, American Businessman Samuel Ratchett is mysteriously found dead in his locked train carriage. Also on board, Poirot is tasked by his fellow passenger and friend, Monsieur Bouc to solve the murder over the course of the journey. As Poirot investigates, conflicting clues and convoluted alibis only uncover misleading dead ends. Is the killer still on board and will Poirot be able to solve the case of the Murder on the Orient Express?
