Following sold-out runs in Cardiff and at the National Theatre, the joy-filled musical will light up the stage at the Bridge Theatre.
Tickets are now on sale for Pride’s eagerly awaited transfer to the Bridge Theatre, ahead of the production’s opening on Thursday 12 November 2026.
The joy-filled new British musical follows 24-year-old activist Mark Ashton, who in the summer of 1984 forms an unlikely alliance between the lesbian and gay community and the striking mining communities of South Wales, at the height of Thatcher’s battle to dismantle the coal industry and amid the rise of the AIDS crisis. Funny, fierce and full of heart, it tells the true story of two disparate communities joining forces and making history.
The production reunites director Matthew Warchus (Matilda The Musical) and writer Stephen Beresford (The Last of the Haussmans), the team behind the beloved 2014 film on which the musical is based, with an original score by Christopher Nightingale, Josh Cohen and DJ Walde, drawing on protest anthems, pop, rock, disco and the Welsh choral tradition. Much of the acclaimed cast transfers with the production, including Samuel Barnett as Jonathan, Matthew Durkan as Mike, Chris Jenkins as Gethin, Kirsty Malpass as Hefina, Sarah Pugh as Siân and Caroline Sheen as Maureen, with further casting to be announced.
