For forty years Robert Moses, despite never being elected into office, was considered to be the most powerful individual in the whole of New York. He started out with a mission to improve the lives of the workers of New York City, creating bridges and parks and infrastructure to allow people to connect with the outdoors even while living in the city. But it didn't take long for opposition to rise against him with different ideas about what life in the city should be.
