Dear Evan Hansen

Closed

NDEAR EVAN HANSEN is ‘the most vital and important musical of a generation‘ (Daily Mail, Baz Bamigboye) with ‘a raw, relevant and exhilarating score‘ (BBC Radio London, Jonathan Phang) from the songwriters of The Greatest Showman and La La Land.

Timely and timeless, the DEAR EVAN HANSEN musical tells the story of a boy struggling to connect with a hyper-connected world. As well as being nominated for 7 Tony Awards including Best Musical, DEAR EVAN HANSEN is the recent winner of two WhatsOnStage Awards and a Critics’ Circle Theatre Award for Best Newcomer, thanks to talented cast member Sam Tutty.

Both deeply personal and profoundly contemporary, the West End musical of DEAR EVAN HANSEN is ‘theatrical lightning. A true original, appealing directly to the heart.’ (International New York Times, Matt Wolf).

What is Dear Evan Hansen the Musical about?

The Dear Evan Hansen musical centres around high school teenager Evan, who struggles with social anxiety disorder every day. After a classmate commits suicide, he finds himself at the centre. He invents a friendship with the boy in a misguided attempt to comfort the grieving family, fabricating email chains as proof. When this spirals out of control, Evan becomes the face of a viral video about loneliness, and the importance of speaking out.

Now, caught in the lie, Evan must choose whether to live in the fantasy that he has accidentally created, or whether to come clean and face losing everything he’s always wanted.
