Following a smash sell-out hit at the Donmar Warehouse, this modern ghost story transfers to Wyndham’s Theatre for 12 weeks only.
On a cold, stormy evening in a remote Irish bar, four old friends gather, settling in for a lock-in to swap old tales as they laugh and drink into the night. But when the arrival of a young female stranger, haunted by a secret from the past, challenges the men to impress her with their ghost stories, the night takes a dramatic turn more real and unsettling than any of them could have foreseen.
When it first premièred in 1997, THE WEIR won the Evening Standard, Critics’ Circle and Olivier awards for Best New Play, and established Conor McPherson as one of our greatest living playwrights.
Josie Rourke’s critically-lauded production reunites the extraordinary original Donmar company; Risteárd Cooper, Brian Cox (The Bourne Films), Dervla Kirwan (The Silence), Peter McDonald and Ardal O’Hanlon (Father Ted).
