This unique gala celebration brings together the original Calendar Girls for an all-star event at London's Royal Albert Hall! Tickets for Seasons of Love: A Celebration of the Calendar Girls are now on sale.
Back in the summer of 1998, Angela Baker and a group of her friends from the Women’s Institute, decided to raise money for the local hospital in Yorkshire where her husband John was being treated for non-Hodgkins lymphoma.
Following his death just five months after diagnosis and pushed by Angela’s friend Tricia, the ladies met at a local photographer’s house one evening and posed in the nude for a calendar. From an initial print run of just 3,000 and the aim of raising enough money to buy a sofa, they became the Calendar Girls and history was made!
Fourteen years on, with £3m raised, a record-breaking stage show and a British Comedy Award winning film, as the beneficiaries of this fundraising, Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research would like to say thank you with a ‘Seasons of Love: Celebration of the Calendar Girls’ at the Royal Albert Hall.
The Seasons of Love event will feature many well-known songs and stars who have featured along the journey such as Brian May, Michael Parkinson, Alan Tichmarsh and Helen Mirren, all brought together by top West-End producer, Hugh Wooldridge. The event will also feature performances by The City of London Philharmonic, The West End Chorus, and Stephen Disley on organ.
