The Southwark Playhouse Theatre Company was founded in 1993 by Juliet Alderdice, Tom Wilson and Mehmet Ergen. They identified the need for a high quality accessible theatre which would provide opportunities for the best emerging companies and act as a major resource for the local community.

Over the past 20 years the Southwark Playhouse has established itself as one of London’s leading studio theatres, presenting high quality work by new and emerging theatre practitioners, becoming an indispensable part of theatre in London.

Located in the heart of Southwark, the Southwark Playhouse is close to a variety of transport routes.

WHEELCHAIR SPACES: There is ground level access to all areas of the theatre. There are a maximum of 2 wheelchair spaces available in the auditorium (usually along the front row). Please notify a member of staff if you wish to transfer to a theatre seat so they can assist you.

GUIDE DOGS: Guide dogs are welcome in the auditorium, please request an aisle seat when you arrive at the theatre. Alternatively Southwark Playhouse staff are happy to dog sit for you.
