Dean John-Wilson & Jade Ewen lead Aladdin London cast

    Dean John-Wilson and Jade Ewen will lead the cast of Disney's Aladdin at London's Prince Edward Theatre next year.

    John-Wilson will play Aladdin opposite Ewen as Princess Jasmine, joining previously announced, Broadway cast member Trevor Dion Nicholas who makes his West End debut as Genie.

    Since appearing on Britain's Got Talent in 2008, Dean John-Wilson's theatre credits include Songs For a New World (St James Theatre), Here Lies Love (National Theatre), Tim Rice's From Here to Eternity (Shaftesbury Theatre), Sister Act: The Musical (UK Tour) and Super Ordinary workshop (Soho Theatre). He has also starred in many concerts, highlights include headlining in Scott Alan's residency at The Hippodrome and leading the company of Here Lies Love in singing ‘Child of the Philippines’ at the 60th London Evening Standard Theatre Awards.

    Former Sugababe Jade Ewen can currently be seen in the hit musical In The Heights at the King's Cross Theatre. She also apeared in the classic opera Porgy and Bess at the Regents Park Open Air Theatre last year. As one third of the multi-million selling, Brit Award winning pop group, Sugababes, Ewen has toured extensively around the world, having sold in excess of 15 million records with 18 UK Top Ten hits, 6 UK Number 1 singles and 6 UK Top Ten albums.

    They will be joined by Don Gallagher (Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Sweeney Todd) as Jafar; Peter Howe (Matilda The Musical) as Iago; Irvine Iqbal (Bend It Like Beckham) as Sultan, Nathan Amzi (In The Heights, Dinner With Saddam, Urinetown) as Babkak; Rachid Sabitri (Romeo and Juliet) as Omar; and Stephen Rahman-Hughes (Rock of Ages UK tour) as Kassim.

    Completing the Aladdin cast are Arran Anzani-Jones, Miles Barrow, Albey Brookes, Lauren Chia, Bianca Cordice, Leon Craig, Daniel de Bourg, Seng Henk Goh, Melanie Elizabeth, Kade Ferraiolo, Michelle Chantelle Hopewell, Fred Johanson, Mitch Leow, Oliver Lidert, Thierry Picaut, Alex Pinder, Briony Scarlett, Kyle Seeley, Sadie-Jean Shirley, Ricardo Spriggs, Katie Singh, Dawnita Smith, Marsha Songcome, Kayleigh Thadani and Jermaine Woods.

    Disney's Aladdin will begin previews from Friday 27 May 2016, with opening night Wednesday 15 June.
