Jamie Lloyd (The Homecoming, Assassins) directs this all-star cast in a contemporary adaptation of Genet's intense psychological thriller at Trafalgar Studios from 20 February to 21 May 2016.

A vicious analysis of the class system, and a provocative exploration of gender and sexuality, in which two maids fantasize about killing their employer, Aduba and Ashton will play the maids, Solange and Claire, while Carmichael will play Madam.

The Maids will feature designs by Soutra Gilmour.

Double Emmy Award winner Uzo Aduba is best known for her acclaimed role as Suzanne "Crazy Eyes" Warren on the Netflix series Orange Is the New Black. The Maids will mark her London stage debut.

Zawe Ashton has appeared in the television series Fresh Meat (Channel 4), Case Histories, Misfits, Sherlock, Not Safe For Work and The Devil You Know. Her stage credits include Splendour (Donmar Warehouse), Narrative (Royal Court), All The Little Things We Crushed (Almeida), Frontline and Othello (all Shakespeare's Globe), Bay (Young Vic), and Narrative, Gone Too Far, Arsonists and Rhinoceros (all Royal Court).

Laura Carmichael is most widely known for her role as Lady Edith Crawley in the period drama Downton Abbey. Her film credits include Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Madame Bovary. Carmichael made her West End debut in Uncle Vanya at the Vaudeville Theatre in October 2012.
