Aladdin, Disney's smash hit Broadway musical, is transferring to London's Prince Edward Theatre in 2016.

Beginning previews from Friday 27 May 2016, with opening night Thursday 9 June 2016, Aladdin is directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw (The Book of Mormon) with music by Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast), lyrics by Howard Ashman (Beauty and the Beast), Tim Rice (The Lion King) and Chad Beguelin (Elf), who also wrote the book.

Broadway cast member Trevor Dion Nicholas will make his London stage debut as Genie. Further casting for the Aladdin London production has yet to be confirmed.

The Aladdin musical includes timeless songs from the classic Disney film, such as "A Whole New World", "Friend Like Me" and "Arabian Nights" as well as new music that's been written for the production.

Aladdin first opened at Broadway's New Amsterdam Theatre in March 2014 and was nominated for five Tony Awards, winning one for Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Musical for James Monroe Iglehart as 'The Genie'.

Aladdin is based on Disney's classic 1992 animated film of the same name, in which the late Robin Williams famously voiced The Genie. Upon its release Aladdin received many accolades, including two Academy Awards for Best Original Score and Best Original Song for "A Whole New World", three Golden Globe awards including a Special Achievement Award for Williams, an MTV Movie Award, and four Grammy Awards.
