Ivo van Hove's production of Arthur Miller's A View From The Bridge, starring Mark Strong, has received five star reviews from The Times, Guardian and Financial Times.

Dominic Maxwell of The Times wrote, “After seeing van Hove's intense and adventurous Arthur Miller revival for the first time last spring... I walked out of the auditorium and up to the Young Vic box office to buy tickets to see it again. And having just seen it in the West End, with Mark Strong and the rest of the original cast bringing their modernist rejig of Miller's tragedy to this proscenium-arch theatre, I feel just a jubilant. This remains one of the great theatrical productions of the decade. See it.”

The Guardian's Lyn Gardner also gave A View From The Bridge five stars, calling it “menacing [and] meticulously conceived... There have been plenty of productions of Miller's Greek tragedy-inspired drama… but you've never seen it staged like this.”

Jan Versweyveld's exquisitely lit design offers an almost bare, yet strangely imprisoning space… Mark Strong “gives a driven performance of great, rock-like stillness [which is] beautifully contrasted by Nicola Walker's performance as Eddie's wife, Beatrice.”

Sarah Hemming of The Financial Times also gave van Hove's “unbearably tense” and “superb, searing production” five stars.

Hemming saved particular praise for the “magnificent” performances, declaring Mark Strong is “simply outstanding as Eddie [while] Nicola Walker is beautifully understated as Beatrice, as she tries, together with Michael Gould's exasperated lawyer, to divert Eddie from catastrophe.”
