Gemma Arterton will star in the brand new MADE IN DAGENHAM musical at the Adelphi Theatre in October 2014.

Inspired by a true story and based on the 2010 hit film, Arterton will play Rita O’Grady, with Adrian Der Gregorian as her husband Eddie directed by Olivier Award winner Rupert Goold (American Psycho, Oliver!, Enron).

BAFTA nominee Arterton said: “It's an important story that I’m passionate about telling, and we intend to tell it with wit, warmth and, of course, a lot of singing and dancing in this production! Roll on October!” Most recently seen on the London stage in The Duchess of Malfi at the Shakespeare’s Globe Sam Wanamaker Playhouse, her theatre credits include Love's Labour's Lost (also Globe Theatre) and The Little Dog Laughed (Garrick Theatre).

She's starred in the James Bond film Quantum of Solace, The Disappearance of Alice Creed, Clash of the Titans, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Tamara Drewe, Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters and Byzantium. She’s also appeared in the television programmes Capturing Mary, Tess of the D'Urbervilles and Lost in Austen.

Based in 1968 Essex, MADE IN DAGENHAM dramatises women's fight for equal pay at the Ford Dagenham car plant, taking on the might of Ford and the corruption of the Union supposed to protect them. The original film starred Sally Hawkins, Bob Hoskins, Miranda Richardson, Geraldine James, Rosamund Pike, Andrea Riseborough, Jaime Winstone, Daniel Mays and Richard Schiff, and was nominated for four BAFTAs including Outstanding British Film.
