EastEnder's Marc Elliott joins Urinetown The Musical cast

    Marc Elliott has joined the cast of Broadway musical URINETOWN, which will preview at the St James Theatre from 22 February 2014.

    Best known as Syed Masood from BBC's EastEnders, Elliott's theatre credits include Julius Caesar, The Winter’s Tale, Macbeth and The Lord of the Flies with the Royal Shakespeare Company, Tape at Trafalgar Studios, and the National Theatre's critically acclaimed, award-winning production of The History Boys. He performed a scene from The History Boys at the NT's 50 years on Stage live broadcast, opposite James Corden, Dominic Cooper and the playwright Alan Bennett.

    Elliott will join previously announced Richard Fleeshman, Jenna Russell and RSC regular Jonathan Slinger in the production, directed by Jamie Lloyd (The Commitments).

    Further cast members announced include Chris Bennett, Alasdair Buchan, Karis Jack, Aaron Lee Lambert, Jeff Nicholson, Adam Pearce and Charlotte Scott. The cast also includes: Katie Bernstein, Cory English, Madeleine Harland, Rosanna Hyland, Julie Jupp, Mark Meadows, Joel Montague, Jo Napthine and Matthew Seadon-Young.

    Set in a Gotham-like city where a hero leads the people in an uprising against private toilets, URINETOWN THE MUSICAL won three Tony Awards including Best Book, Best Score and Best Direction.

    Produced by Julian Stoneman Associates and The Araca Group, URINETOWN's UK premiere will be designed by Soutra Gilmour (The Commitments, From Here To Eternity, From Morning To Midnight), with choreography by Ann Yee, lighting from Adam Silverman, sound by Terry Jardine and Nick Lidster for Autograph, musical supervision by Alan Williams, orchestrations by Bruce Coughlin and wig and hair design by Richard Mawbey.
