    The news is starting to spread… The producers of Disney's latest hit musical NEWSIES could be heading for the West End stage in late 2013 or spring 2014. According to the Daily Mail, Disney is trying looking at either the Piccadilly or Savoy theatres for their planned transfer.

    On Monday 17 June, two open auditions for male dancers will be held at Pineapple Dance Studios in London’ Covent Garden. A testimony to Christopher Gattelli's Tony Award-winning choreography, the production is seeking trained dancers with excellent ballet technique, capable of playing between 16 and 22 years old.

    Casting director Jill Green said that Gattelli's choreography demands "extraordinary dance talent", since it "requires energetic male dancers with excellent ballet technique, acrobatic skills, tap dancing, and more".

    Inspired by the real-life "Newsboy Strike of 1899," and based on the 1992 film of the same name that starred Christian Bale, Bill Pullman and Robert Duvall, NEWSIES centres on the exploits of a group of newspaper boys in 1900s New York. When publishing titans Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst raise distribution prices at the newsboys' expense, their mobilised by a charismatic young man who rallies Newsies from across the city to strike for what's right.

    Featuring a Tony Award-winning score by Disney legend and eight-time Academy Award® winner Alan Menken (Beauty and The Beast), lyrics by Jack Feldman and a book by four-time Tony Award® winner Harvey Fierstein (La Cage Aux Folles), NEWSIES went on to win two Tony Awards.
