  • The Royal Shakespeare Company's production of Matilda The Musical has extended its booking period at the West End's Cambridge Theatre by 4 months to 17 March 2013. The popular story written by Roald Dahl centres around young Matilda Wormwood whom is ignored by her parents and terrorised at school by the ferocious Miss Trunchbull. Then, one day, Matilda discovers she has a very special power and decides to get her own back and teach the grown-ups a lesson.

    Matilda has been a huge success, and has been well received by both the young, and big kids alike.  Matilda is a must-see, now with a grand total of ten Olivier Award nominations, including Best Actress for all four young actresses who play the title role.

    Casting update: Hayley Flaherty and Steve Furst will take over from Paul Kaye and Lauren Ward as Mr Wormwood and Miss Honey, respectively, from Tuesday 17 April 2012. Bertie Carvel will continue in the role of Miss Trunchbull until Sunday 1 July 2012. Josie Walker will continue in the role of Mrs Wormwood. Cleo Demetriou and Eleanor Worthington Cox will continue in the role of ‘Matilda’, joined by Isobelle Molloy (currently playing Amanda Thripp) and Jade Marner, who will take over from Kerry Ingram and Sophia Kiely from mid-April 2012. Hayley Canham will join the group of young performers who play Matilda from mid-August.
