  • A group of twenty special Jamaican sports fans gathered at Madame Tussauds London for the opportunity to wish 2012 Olympian Usain Bolt luck as he prepares to go for gold.  The group of special guests paid a private visit to the attraction to meet the brand new wax figure of the running sensation at Madame Tussauds in London – and seized the chance to wish him well.

Portrayed in his trademark “To Di World” pose, Bolt’s new Madame Tussaud's figure is as dynamic and striking as the athlete himself.  His fans were quick to pose alongside their hero, replicating his “lightning bolt” stance as they wrapped themselves in Jamaican flags.  Some even touched his feet for luck!

Sorcha Gavin, age 16 from Harrow and a 100m sprinter herself, was delighted to meet Usain’s double.  “It’s always exciting when Bolt competes in an important race and he is about to run the races of his life,” he commented.  “The eyes of the world will be upon him and the whole of Jamaica is willing him to win.  It has been brilliant to come here today and wish him luck in this special way.  His figure is amazing.  It’s just like standing right next to him!”

“The reaction to Usain’s figure has been fantastic and he makes a really dynamic addition to the sports area” said Madame Tussauds London General Manager Meike Schulze.  “We’re sure we’ll be getting plenty more fans in over the next week or so wanting to wish him well. So if you haven’t got tickets to the 100m, there’s still an opportunity to get a really close encounter with Bolt right here at Madame Tussauds.”

The figure cost £150,000 and took a team of talented sculptors, hair artists and colourists four months to create.

Fans can meet Bolt at Madame Tussuads London in the interactive sports zone alongside other Olympians past and present from Team GB’s Jessica Ennis and Tom Daly to legends like Mohammed Ali and Jesse Owens. Book your Madame Tussauds tickets today!
